Just the Basics with Jules, episode seven is The Bloody Mary
To be completely honest, this isn’t my favorite cocktail in the world but that doesn’t mean I should deprive my Bloody Mary lovers out there. So here’s how I make my Bloody Mary’s (Bloody Mary purists, don’t come for)
Xoxo, cheers!
Directions:
2 ounces vodka, or tequila
4 ounces tomato juice, heirloom tomato puree*
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
3 dashes hot sauce
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 crack of freshly ground black pepper & a pinch of sea salt
Garnish: parsley sprigs, celery stalk, lemon or lime wedge, and/or green olives
Rim: spicy salt & lime juice
Pour some spicy salt onto a small plate and rim a pint glass with lime juice and salt.
Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake gently.
Strain into the prepared glass filled with ice.
*Heirloom tomato juice: Blend 1-2 heirloom tomatoes with 1/2 oz lime juice, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1 tsp sea salt, (optional: 1-2 tsp really good quality olive oil), 1/4 cup water & strain!
